So we decided to put together some of the best yet underrated beach destination in Asia to inspire your next retreat.
Da Nang, Vietnam
Da Nang is the 3rd largest city in Vietnam and is situated on the coast of the South China Sea. Famous as a tourist city that is green, clean, beautiful and civilised, Da Nang also offers a number of pristine and beautiful beaches such as Non Nuoc, Nam O, Xuan Thieu.
Gili Meno, Gili Islands, Indonesia
Only 2 kilometers long and one kilometer wide, Gili Meno is the smallest out of the three Gili Islands and is by far the most peaceful and underdeveloped. Great for a total feeling of escapism, the island is also popular with honeymooners and adventurous castaways looking for a different vibe of relaxation.
Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka
Situated 98 km from Colombo towards the south of Sri Lanka, Hikkaduwa is a large shallow body of water enclosed by a reef, decorated with layers of multi coloured corals, and is home to countless numbers of vibrantly coloured fish. It has a reputation of being the second best surf spot in Sri Lanka and now has a 4km strip of hotels, shop, bars, restaurants and guesthouses.
Tokashiki Island, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan
One of the most beautiful beaches in Tokashiki Island is Aharen beach. Aharen Beach is an 800 meters white curved beach with an impeccable coral reef and a high degree of water transparency. It is considered one of the best spots to snorkel and dive. The lookout at the edge of the beach provides stunning views of the whole beach and island, making it the best place to end the day.
Koh Chang, Thailand
Koh Chang, one of the largest island in the Gulf of Thailand, is far less touristy and less well-known compared to Samui and Phuket which are similar in size. Phú Quốc is a Vietnamese island off the coast of Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand and was once a secret backpacker’s retreat. Regardless of the islands recent developments, 50% of the main island is designated as a National park leaving plenty of marine life and coral reefs.

Hateruma Island, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan
Hateruma Island is home to Nishihama Beach which is the highest ranked beach in all of Japan according to Tripadvisor and is valued for its clear waters, coral reefs and sea turtles. This island is Japan’s southernmost place where tourists can reach and is one out of the handful of places in Japan where one can observe the Southern Cross in the night sky under good conditions.
