Introducing the new Google Art & Culture app
01 August 2016
Google recently launched an Art & Culture app that offers a wide, interactive range of resources from over 1000 museums around the world. Available for Android and iOS, the app made us wonder about the could-have-beens of history and art lessons in school — interactive, entertaining and fun. For the first time, we found all this reading exciting. Google’s new app is also by far one of our more productive apps to tinker with while waiting away for an appointment.
Thanks to the Google Arts & Culture app, we’ll be skipping those audio guide head sets at the museums next time and won’t fuss about scouring the net for a free audio guide book pre-trip.
The app appears to function like a combination of Google Maps, Feedly and Flipboard — curating snappy, digestible and aesthetically pleasing content. The app also allows users to take a virtual 360-tour of selected museums while zooming in to artworks.
For the inquisitive users, the app has conveniently created filters for browsing with categories including artists, mediums, art movements, history events and places. And, just like your shopping cart, you can tag your favourite pieces to create a collection.
We’ll leave you to check out the app for yourself in this quick video below:
